Christmas brochure to spread festive cheer

Hundreds of thousands of Christmas brochures have been distributed to let people know what events and attractions are at their disposal in Swansea over the festive season.

The Christmas Parade on Sunday November 15 and the Christmas Market on Oxford Street from November 27 to December 13 are among the fun that's been lined up.

Details of daily entertainment in the city centre from November 27 are also included in the brochure as well as information about The Sleeping Beauty pantomime taking place at the Grand Theatre from December 16 to January 17.

Waterfront Winterland also returns to the grounds of the National Waterfront Museum from November 15 to January 3 and round-the-clock shopping is being made available seven-days-a-week in Swansea city centre from November 15 to coincide with the switch-on of the Christmas lights.

The shops will be open on Sundays from 11am to 5pm and on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.

Opening hours on Wednesdays and Fridays and throughout Christmas week from December 21 are from 9am to 9pm.

Swansea Council and Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) are behind the Christmas brochure.

Copies have now been distributed to many shops in the city centre as well as to community leisure centres, libraries and the tourist information office on Plymouth Street.

Information on travel, parking and accommodation is also included in the brochure as well as the chance to win £1,000 for a festive shopping spree in Swansea.

Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "There's so much going on in Swansea in the build-up to Christmas and the New Year and this is why a brochure of this nature is very handy for both residents and visitors.

"The combination of festive shopping opportunities and Christmas events and attractions is sure to once again generate an atmosphere to savour in Swansea this year."
