Carelink/Homesafe is launched

Flintshire Community Safety Partnership today begins a six month pilot project to help victims of domestic abuse.

Flintshire Carelink Service will be linked into the current Homesafe Service (a service which provides security to any victim of domestic abuse wishing to remain in their own home) and is an additional security measure in keeping perpetrators away and making survivors feel safer.

The Caveo alarms will be fitted by Homesafe staff and offered to any very high risk victim of domestic abuse. Carelink monitor the alarms 24 hours a
day/7 days a week.

If the alarm is pressed, it will promote an instant response by Carelink to the emergency services. The operator is then able to, if required, speak directly to the person in need of assistance whilst dialling 999.

The alarm button can be put onto a wall, worn around the wrist or neck.

Referrals can be made by any agency who is supporting a victim of domestic abuse. Self referrals are also being taken.

Sian Jones, Community Safety Officer, said: “This is an innovative and exciting pilot which the Community Safety Partnership is delighted to support as it will offer further reassurance and protection to victims of domestic abuse.”
